Author Life Musings: New Computers and the Death of Iron Man...Almost

I got a new computer! My previous one was dead set on war with my writing and anything else I wanted to get done. The touchscreen would frequently glitch and open and close things while I was trying to work. It opened my code editor one time…not good. The only explanations I can think of, other than “glitching,” are that it was haunted (probably not the case) or that an invisible gremlin was using my touchscreen for target practice. Definitely a viable explanation.

So, the old is out, and the new is…now at war with Iron Man. Or so I thought. My new computer (which I absolutely love by the way. It’s a Dell, and I’ve wanted a Dell since the last one I had. They’re great!) did not seem to want to work with my beloved Iron Man mouse. Okay, so it’s not at war with the real Iron Man. That would be weird. But my Iron Man mouse and my new Dell didn’t seem to get along, and I thought I would have to lay my Iron Man mouse to rest...untill my dad found out I was using the wrong doggle. Yeah...my bad.

Before I dicovered my hilarious oversight, I had gone back to my old mouse, which doesn’t scroll. We were having an adventure like two kids in a craft store with a shopping cart that has a bum wheel and keeps running into things without warning. As much fun as that was, I am glad to have Iron Man back! And the new computer is a dream! It’s great to have my screen back, and I personally love the Dell keyboard much more than my previous HP keyboard.

In short, life is an adventure, and I am truly grateful for the tools I have to make my job possible. These little glitches and moments of my own comical brain lapses seem like they should be frustrating, but for some reason, they make me smile. They give my office personality, and remind me to laugh at myself. I love it!
